Today is the first day of school at Berkeley High after DJ Weathers was killed in a car accident.  Reading Facebook statuses I’m already noticing that many students were having a very rough day dealing with the loss.

Let me just say to all of the students of Berkeley High: I’m sorry that you’re having to deal with this, and I wish I could take the hurt away that you’re feeling.  Given enough time it will go away.  Just always lean on God to help you; especially in a time such as this.  I love you; even if I don’t know you.  And if you need anything feel free to ask.

Today just might be the most dreaded day of all Berkeley county children and teenagers.

Today also just might be the most celebrated day for parents.

Because today is the day Berkeley county schools open for the 2010-2011 school year.

Good luck, everyone.  And congrats parents for surviving the summer.

As of yesterday, the 2009-2010 school year has come to a close for Berkeley county, SC students.  Summer break is here for them.

Across the U.S. school districts are either done with their school years or are quickly coming to a close.

Just a quick note to all of my students readers.  Congratulations.  Enjoy your break.  Take a family vacation if you can.  But do one thing for me.  Don’t relax on your walk with God.  Don’t take a break.  Keep at it.  If not, then you’ll won’t be on guard against the devil.  It’ll be too easy to get frustrated and discouraged.  You’ve worked too hard to let it go to waste.
