Take a Risk

Just do it.  Go on.  What are you waiting for? It's hard work. Don't misunderstand this one truth: taking risks is very hard, but that makes the outcome worthwhile.  Even in failure lessons can be learned and a person can grow in some way, shape, or form.  It

Girl Falls Through Pavement

Oh wow!  The girl in the video was talking on her cell phone when she fell through the pavement. Where did that hole come from? Apparently, water beneath the pavement had washed away the foundation so the girl's weight made it cave in.  Luckily for her,

An Amazing Easter

I couldn't have asked for a better Easter weekend. God is way too good to me.

A Letter To All Life-Givers

Posted on by Dewaine in Personal | Leave a comment

A big THANK YOU to everyone who came out to yesterday’s morning service.  You are all awesome.  I can’t believe that God has planted me in such a great church.

If you weren’t at church yesterday, then let me be frank.  You can be Shirley, and, Shirley, you missed out.  You really missed out.  Rev. Phyllis Underwood joined us and delivered a powerful and encouraging word from God that every Life-Giver needed to hear.  Hopefully, I can have the video on the LGM website later this week.

This weekend is our Breakout Youth Revival.  Even if you can’t volunteer your time please, please, join us.  All of the signs are proving that something amazing is going to happen this weekend.  And this isn’t me trying to hype up an event.  The evidence points to it.  God has opened doors to allow us to invite people.  Churches are claiming that they are bringing their students and adults.  Our prayer services have been off-the-chain with God’s presence.  Something is going to happen, and that something is BIG.

I love you all, and there’s nothing you can do about it.

God bless,

Pastor Dewaine

Country Boy Can Survive

Here’s the video of my sermon at Life-Givers Ministries from last Sunday, March 6, 2011.  It was a trip being able to preach on my birthday, and God really showed up.  He gets all of the credit for this one.  He did a great job.

What’s not in the video (and I hate that I had to cut it out) is after everyone stood in the audience, then an invitation was given.  Six people responded to my question of if there was a sin they thought God was bringing to their attention and if they wanted it to be gone so they could be closer to God.

I love being a pastor. I love doing what I was called to do.

7-Day Media Fast

Posted on by Dewaine in Everything Else | Leave a comment

This week, my pastor called for everyone in our church to participate in a media fast for seven days.  This is a good thing.

He made a few things specific:

  • The fast lasts for seven days;
  • It includes no TV, no Internet (except for work), no secular music or books, etc.;
  • Each person is to read through one of the Gospels; and
  • Each family is to hold a daily Bible study/discussion.

One other detail to mention.  Each person can participate in the fast any time in January as long as the above criteria are met.  Since Bridgett is going to Tennessee this weekend we are planning to hold our fast when she returns so we can do it together.  We really want to meet the fourth criteria by having our own Bible study together.

A Personal Note To All Life-Givers

Hey Life-Givers Ministries…here’s a personal request from me.

Please be at church this Sunday!

You’ll want to be there.  Pastor Doug is bringing a message from God that will be truly amazing, and you’re going to want to be there to hear it.  If you can’t be there, then you’ll want to watch the video.  Since Bryan is out of town I will do my best to have this message recorded and posted on the LGM website.  If anyone can help me with this, then please let me know, because I am filling in for Bryan and can’t video the message myself.

But if you can, then please…please be there.

Also, for our parents.  Kids Zone and the Beyond Youth classes will be suspended this Sunday so that everyone can be available to hear Pastor Doug’s message.

Kryptonite Sermon

Here is the video of the sermon that I preached at Life-Givers Ministries on Sunday, October 17, 2010.  I hope you enjoy it. It’s pretty long, but it’s a sermon so that shouldn’t be a surprise.  Keep in mind that the audio may break up a bit, but we do the best we can with what we have.

Kryptonite

Sunday, I’m bringing the message to the adults on Samson’s life & death in Judges 13-16 entitled Kryptonite.  It’s going to be a good day in the Lord.  He’s going to show up and show off.

New LGM Building Sneak Peek

Posted on by Dewaine in Everything Else | Leave a comment

A church is made up of people not a building, but I had to promote the new Life-Givers building.  I stole these pictures while working there last night.

Looks good so far.  I’m excited about what’s going to happen in this building.

Thank you, Jesus.

New Ministry Year

Quickly approaching is the new ministry year for the student ministries (Beyond Youth & Kids Zone) at Life-Givers Ministries.  Sure, it’s only June, but the new ministry year starts on Sunday, August 29, 2010; a few weeks after the start of the new school year.

Can I just say that I’m excited?  So excited that I want run and jump and scream how excited I am.

Last night, I was deeply thinking and praying for God to solidify the vision he wants for this new year.  During this time, God gave me a phrase that struck me hard.  This phrase is so powerful that I believe that God will use this new ministry year to drive LGM and it’s student ministries to a new level of ministry and closeness to God.

Here’s the sad part.  I can’t share it right now.  There’s some work to be done in the background before it can be shared, but keep a lookout.  It is coming soon, and it will blow you away.

Talent Quest 2010 Results

Posted on by Dewaine in Everything Else | Leave a comment

Friday and Saturday was the annual Talent Quest for the South Carolina Conference of the IPHC.  Life-Givers had 16 children and teenagers performing in 5 categories: Vocal/Instrumentals, Painting, Dance, Junior Drama, Teen Drama.  Here’s the results:

  • Vocal/Instrumental (Piano & singing): 1st place
  • Painting: 1st place
  • Dance: Honorable Mention
  • Junior Drama: Honorable Mention
  • Teen Drama: 2nd place

I consider that a very successful weekend especially since this was LGM’s first appearance at Talent Quest.  I very proud of all of our performers, and now we have 2 teens going to national competition in Orlando, FL in July.
