Planning for the new school year has begun. So it is for the leader of a youth ministry.
Over the past 2 years, the Beyond Youth has grown tremendously, and I’m expecting more great things to come.
Time to take it to the next level.

Last night & this morning, the Beyond Youth had their spring lock-in, and it was phenomenal. We loved every moment although many of the students were passing out by the end. Check it out!

Awesome!
Watching Tentblogger’s video from yesterday explaining the importance of creating a space were creativity thrives got me thinking, “I want this for my Beyond Youth students.” Problem is that I’m not an interior decorator so I’m going to need some help.
The Beyond Youth room is the only upstairs room in our church, and is approximately 30′ x 30′ in size. Any suggestions? Or how about resources to guide me?
Hey Life-Givers Ministries…here’s a personal request from me.
You’ll want to be there. Pastor Doug is bringing a message from God that will be truly amazing, and you’re going to want to be there to hear it. If you can’t be there, then you’ll want to watch the video. Since Bryan is out of town I will do my best to have this message recorded and posted on the LGM website. If anyone can help me with this, then please let me know, because I am filling in for Bryan and can’t video the message myself.
But if you can, then please…please be there.
Also, for our parents. Kids Zone and the Beyond Youth classes will be suspended this Sunday so that everyone can be available to hear Pastor Doug’s message.
On Friday night and Saturday morning the Beyond Youth held their first ever lock-in that included a town-wide scavenger hunt, a bonfire with a message, and many games. All-in-all, it was awesome. The students God has given to me to pastor are the greatest I’ve ever met.
As a small window of chance, here’s a couple recap videos. The 1st is the full-length and the 2nd is a shorter 2 minute video.
By-the-way, big props to Bryan Hood, the LGM Production Manager, for working hard to create and prepare the videos for this morning’s service.
The West Farm Corn Maze is the greatest thing in October in Berkeley County. Bridgett and I took the Beyond Youth (and a few kids) there on Saturday, and it was an awesome time.
A few got lost, but all in all, everyone had a great time.
I love being a pastor.
Last Sunday, I taught a lesson to the Beyond Youth about their importance and significance. On Monday, I found this video via The Doug and Jon Show that’s a good addition to the lesson. It’s focused more to girls, but this is a lesson for all kids and teens.
Quickly approaching is the new ministry year for the student ministries (Beyond Youth & Kids Zone) at Life-Givers Ministries. Sure, it’s only June, but the new ministry year starts on Sunday, August 29, 2010; a few weeks after the start of the new school year.
Can I just say that I’m excited? So excited that I want run and jump and scream how excited I am.
Last night, I was deeply thinking and praying for God to solidify the vision he wants for this new year. During this time, God gave me a phrase that struck me hard. This phrase is so powerful that I believe that God will use this new ministry year to drive LGM and it’s student ministries to a new level of ministry and closeness to God.
Here’s the sad part. I can’t share it right now. There’s some work to be done in the background before it can be shared, but keep a lookout. It is coming soon, and it will blow you away.
While driving to work this morning I became increasingly excited about this coming Sunday’s service at Life-Givers Ministries. More specifically, for the Beyond Youth. This wasn’t just some excitement about an upcoming event or about something cool, but a divine excitement. Like God is about to bust up something.
Something big it about to happen.
If you’re a teen in Berkeley county, then be at Life-Givers Ministries this Sunday morning. If you’re a parent of a teen, then get them to Life-Givers. Just do it!
