Grand Rapids - Day 2

Last night’s youth service at Camp Meeting was great.  Not as good as I remember them 10+ years ago as a teen, but still very good.  Jonathan Cook rocked the stage with his message, as well as, both music teams.  I especially like the one from Little Star PH Church.

Anyway, to the point.

Something hit me last night.  A simple nugget of truth that can change a person’s perspective, and it pertains to ministry leaders.

Pastors, let someone minister to you.

You’re human.  Stop pretending like you’re Superman.  You need God just as much as anyone else.  You’re no better.

Remember what it was like to let someone pray for you?  The surrendering of your needs to God.  The kneeling at an altar while others laid their hands on you.  The freedom it felt to worship, to cry, to raise your hands, to love without caring what anyone else thought.  You need that just as much now as you did then.

This was me last night.  I had reached a mentality that I couldn’t go to the altar for prayer, because I might be needed to pray for someone else, but I did.  I let older, wiser ministers pray for me.  Why?  Because I needed it.  And you know what?  As selfish as it sounds, if anyone needed me, then they could wait for me to be done.

It is a lie to think that the only time you can receive from God is through your personal prayer and Bible study.  LIE, LIE, LIE.  Pastors, let your church pray for you.  Let your friends pray for you.  Let your family pray for you.  There’s no such thing as too much prayer.  Especially for a leader in the Kingdom of God.
