God’s Recommendation

I love this lyric in the song “Until the Whole World Hears” by Casting Crowns:

Lord I want my life to be the song You sing.”

When I heard it this morning, God reminded me of Job 1:8.  God’s says,

“Have you considered my servant Job?”

It doesn’t seem like much, but consider this verse in another way.  Consider it as God’s recommendation of Job.  Just like when a person applies for a job opening, he/she must provide references that will recommend him/her for the particular job.  God was Job’s reference without Job knowing it.  God was recommending Job for the job (haha, pun intended) of enduring Satan’s wrath in order to strengthen his faith and prove that good always triumphs over evil even if evil seems to have the upper hand.

So, it made me wonder: would God recommend me for anything?  But in the end, he already has.  He’s recommended me to be a son, a brother, a cousin, a nephew, a husband, an uncle, a friend, and a pastor.  He’s also recommended me for every employment that I’ve ever had.  And for all of the heartaches and “crap” that I’ve had to deal with over the years, but looking back, I know that God’s been so good to me, and that gives me faith to know that he’ll be good to me forever.

What has God recommended you for?
