And now, without further ado, the 19th edition of the Monday Morning Rewind; my thoughts over the past weekend.
- I hate waking up in the mornings. It’s nothing personal or pathetic, but I like sleep. Okay, it might be a little pathetic. Sundays; however, I love waking up. Just the thought of going to MY church to celebrate JESUS and to celebrate him with other people TOGETHER gets me going.
- Being a Youth Pastor has to be one of the greatest positions in a church. While all of the adults are sitting quietly listening to the pastor speak, or guest speaker, I get to play games and be goofy. And I get to act goofy in public, too. Way cool!
- Being a Youth Pastor is also one of the hardest positions in a church. Trying to “get through” to teenagers who think they know it all; dealing with some who fight authority; fighting what seems to be a losing battle with drugs, alcohol, sex, and other negative influences; all the while trying to keep your own head above water with a marriage, finances, and other stuff.
- Point of the prior 2 bullets: I love being goofy, and I always love a good fight. I was meant to be a youth pastor.
- One of my goals for each Beyond Youth student is for them to get involved at Life-Givers Ministries in some way, shape, or form. Lexi started singing in the Praise Team in December ’09, as well as, many students who participated in our first ever Youth Sunday. Yesterday, Kinsey welcomed everyone at LGM and gave us some announcements. I was so excited and proud.
- Speaking of the Praise Team, how cool was it to see Stephanie singing yesterday. Will we see more of her up there on stage? I’m not sure, but either way thank you Stephanie for your service yesterday.
- And, speaking of announcements, there are some exciting ideas coming down the pipe for the Beyond Youth Ministry. We’re working through some details, but these things are going to revolutionize the Beyond Youth at LGM.
- Finally, let me finish by saying that our students are the greatest group ever. They have blown my mind in every way so far. I’m excited to see what’s going to happen in the future.
Enjoy.
