Religion Poetry

Posted on by Dewaine in Spiritual Growth | Leave a comment

In the eighth grade, I learned of something called Acrostic, which is a type of poetry.  The simplest form of Acrostic is taking a topic word and creating a poem using each letter in the word.  For instance, the old and best acrostic for Ford is “Found on road dead.” So, I was thinking this morning about the word religion.  I hate this word with a passion, and to mark my hatred I wanted to create an acrostic for it.  …

Camp Robinson Clean-Up Day

Posted on by Dewaine in Personal | Leave a comment

Today is Camp Robinson Clean-Up Day.  Bridgett took her youngest brother, her nephew, and Lexi (a Beyond Youth student) with her to help clean up the camp prior to Teen Week, which is next week.  There’s a lot of work to do, but from what I’ve been told a lot of people were coming to help.  Good thing, too. I talked to Bridgett a little while ago, and she told me how Lexi was on top of one of the …

Camp Robinson 2010

Here are my thoughts over the past week. Congrats to all of the Beyond Youth graduates.  Among them were our high school graduate, Sumar, and our middle school grads, Alexis and Donovan.  I’m proud of you all. Attendance was way off at Life-Givers, but the Holy Spirit was present, and his presence is the most important. We kicked off the new Kid Zone yesterday, and it was a huge success.  The kids really loved the new praise and worship music, …

As of yesterday, the 2009-2010 school year has come to a close for Berkeley county, SC students.  Summer break is here for them. Across the U.S. school districts are either done with their school years or are quickly coming to a close. Just a quick note to all of my students readers.  Congratulations.  Enjoy your break.  Take a family vacation if you can.  But do one thing for me.  Don’t relax on your walk with God.  Don’t take a break.  …

Small Things

Posted on by Dewaine in Leadership | Leave a comment

This post by Adam Mclane has been all shaken up.  Since reading it, I’ve been thinking of the small things I could be doing to help the people in my community.  More importantly, I’m thinking about why I’m not doing them. No, I can’t do everything, nor should I try, but I can do something right?  Even if that something is small.  Especially if it doesn’t take much effort. Small things.  That’s all it takes to make a difference. So, …
