Some Things That Are Bothering Me

Posted on by Dewaine in Spiritual Growth | Leave a comment

Over the past few weeks, two things have been bothering me. How can we expect God to forgive us when we’re not willing to forgive others? Read Matthew 18:21-35.  Go ahead.  I’ll wait. Do you get it?  This is the same as God to us.  Of all the things we’ve done to God by sinning He is still faithful to forgive us.  No matter what.  Every time.  Then how is it so hard for us to forgive someone else who …

Monday Morning Rewind #33

Posted on by Dewaine in Everything Else | 1 Comment

I am completely wiped out.  I almost didn’t wake up this morning, but alas, I did.  And since it’s Monday, here are my thoughts over the past week. God changed my lesson during worship yesterday.  I have a love-hate relationship with that, but it is a very cool thing.  Plus, it was an awesome message. There are so many people and things fighting for our attentions, but sometimes we need to disconnect from everything and everyone.  Even Jesus did that. …

Go 8Bit Yourself

I love random non-useful tech stuff. Browsing through Google Reader I came across a cool website that let’s users create an 8-bit version of themselves.  It’s called 8Bit Yourself. Here’s an 8Bit version of me. Haha!  Cool. By-the-way, show me yours! Hat tip to ChurchCrunch from the 8Bit network.

Finding Purpose In the VCR Clock

Posted on by Dewaine in Spiritual Growth | Leave a comment

Most everyone knows what a VCR is, but most of my younger readers may have never used one.  The VCR was in almost every house, and it was a staple in my home when I was growing up.  But there was always an annoyance with the VCR: the infamous blinking 12:00 A.M. display. Clinical insanity almost went rampant because of this stupid thing, because no matter how many times the clock display was set to the correct time, the time …

Monday Morning Rewind #32

Here are my thoughts over the past week. I have the best mom in the world, and boy do I know it.  She has done and is doing so much for me.  I am forever grateful for the example that she showed me in how to live, and she is one of the reasons why I follow God to this day. I love bonfires.  There’s something mystical in watching a fire burn; especially when you can see the heat of …

I Wish I Hadn’t…

Fill in the blank.  I wish I hadn’t ___________________. That blank isn’t big enough for what I want to fill in it. Too many people live with too many regrets, but most of these regrets are the result of being too stubborn to listen to someone else’s advice.  They were only trying to help, but nooooooooo it had to be done your way. Stupid, right! Maybe next time we’ll listen.

Judges

I started reading the book of Judges last night, and some of the stories are fascinating.  Like the story of Ehud.  He killed the king of Moab by stabbing him in his belly with a two-edged sword, and the king was so large that his belly fat enclosed the handle of the sword.  If I had been Ehud, then I’d have let out a “BOOYAH!”  Ha ha!  Awesome. The most fascinating aspect of the book is that God didn’t use …

Prayer

Here’s a time for me to give to you.  Not my thoughts or life, but part of me spiritually. How can I pray for you today?

Monday Morning Rewind #31

Posted on by Dewaine in Everything Else | Leave a comment

I’m wiped out from yesterday, but it’s Monday so here are my thoughts from the past week. My new favorite saying has officially become “BOOYAH!”  And I must say “BOOYAH!” to the devil because a lady accepted Jesus into her heart at the end of the Sunday service at Life-Givers.  I can hear the angels celebrating now. How cool was it seeing all of the CM teachers and helpers pray for our children?  I was even able to pray for …
